1907-2007 The centenary of Forster's second published novel
The Longest Journey is probably the least known of Forster's six novels, perhaps because it is the only one that has not been made into a film. This seems rather odd in view of the fact that he publicly declared it to be his own favorite (although he was speaking only of the publicly known novels at the time--i.e. Maurice was excluded.). Unlike all his other novels published during his lifetime, The Longest Journey has also never been made into a play. Thus the novel itself is the only version available to the public. |
